I had began living with my uncle once I found out that I had a brother, and that he had disappeared when I was born, and my parents had kept that a secret. I was ten when I found out. Then the nightmares started when I was twelve. They would start normal, and would then try to scare me into waking up into a cold sweat. Each dream was way more vivid than the last one, with a terrifying woman in ragged clothes talking to me towards the end of the dream, actually it was more like mumbling. I would appear in a giant plywood room, with two floors like a big wooden box. There was enough light like it was day. There was a set of metal stairs in the middle of the first floor, you could hear the clanging as you went up so no one could sneak up on you. I would walk around trying to find a way to escape but there was no exit, besides breaking a hole in the wall, which It seemed I wasn't strong enough to do. I would always go up the metal stairs to the second floor, and would then hear a lot of noises, getting louder by the second. I would always spin around to source the noises and look at the top stair. I knew that someone was walking up the metal stairs to where I was. An old woman in ragged, brown cloth would slowly appear as she climbed the stairs. And once she got to the top, she would start mumbling.
"You have been chosen for many important things my son, you, with the disease rising in your blood, you shall prevail and reclaim this land from the Wicked."

I stand there paralyzed by what just happened. And I stand there as I hear the thunder in the distance and it starts to sprinkle. My most terrifying experience started as a love story. But it wasn't one of those cliche ones. It was the most unheard of thing in the world. I met her at the laundromat. Least romantic place in the world, Right? Smelt like laundry soap and was warm as hell. But she worked there and I fell in love with her through the window.
Simon's standing at the edge of the field. He's telling me it's time to go, which is funny because I swear his mouth isn't moving. I get up and walk over to him. He's smiling like he used to, I'm trying to remember why he stopped smiled like that, but I can't quite remember it's like something is blocking it from my memory. It's 3:16. I know that's significant, but right now I'm not sure why. In a minute something is going to happen. I'm going to reach him and something bad is going to happen. I don't want to step forward. Dread is filling me as I take a step and another step. The minute has passed, and I'm here and nothing is happening but at the same time something is. He opens his mouth to say something, but before he does, everything goes black.
IDK. IT'S MY MIND.
Snap, a twig broke. My heart is pounding. Sweat is pouring off my face. They know where I am now. If I survive, it will only be by a slim chance. I sprint full speed for the entrance to my underground fort. I make it there just in enough time to slip in, and close the door. I can hear their feet just above me, the feet of students in his creative writing class who follow their leader Mr. Robtoy mindlessly. Well, now I'm in safety...at least for the time being. The last time I was here was about a month ago. I take a minute to contemplate what is happening, and if I would survive. Walking down the street towards the store I thought to myself, what will I do, where will I go? We knew they were coming, everyone knew we had to leave but others didn't accept that. Others believed that defending our home was the right thing to do. I got to the store entrance and the door burst open in my face and two men pushed me aside. "Watch it!" They yell as they sprint the other way down the street. I was 7 months pregnant and I still got pushed out of the way that's how serious this was. I walked into the store and immediately went to the counter and asked "Where is the jam and bread?"
Is this a dream? So much has changed, so much destruction..
"It's like she can't even hear us." The nurse said to the doctor. "I don't think she can Ms...." "My name is Penelope. It's my first day here Dr. Hinzburg. How long has she been here?" "Since the accident that took her family away from her. She doesn't remember a thing. When the neighbors found her she was lying on her bed listening to her music." Jill and Kate always loved to hang out together. They liked to explore new spots in the woods. They have explored almost every part of the woods around town besides “Big Britches Inn” also known as “The Bad House”. It's been known around town to be extremely haunted with evil spirits who like to hurt anyone who goes into the house. The bad house is on the large, rocky hill behind the town playground on the other side of town. Jill and Kate weren't scared of anything especially some house.
There he lay, in a hospital bed. My father. He had just smashed into a semi. On her way home from work, my mom got a phone call from the police telling her about such an incident. Shortly thereafter, I hear about the accident from my mom. She drives to Annabelle's house, where I am when the accident happens, and picks me up. We head to the hospital to see him. He is asleep in his bed when we get there, and the image of him that we see is not my father. He's all banged up, cuts and bruises on every inch of his body. I've never seen him like this, and quite frankly, it's painful. Moments after we arrive, he flat lines. Nurses and doctors rush in, and shout, "he's in cardiac arrest, get a crash cart!"
Chapter 1. Eve
I was about six years old when I started to pester and question my mom about the necklaces everyone had to wear, even me. She would always tell me the same story I'm sure everybody knew by heart. "Before, when the world was a very bad place, people had to search for love. Women and men had to date and experiment to find their soulmate. Many hearts got broken daily. Then science found a way to stop that. They came up with the necklace." It was dark and we were just walking down the side walk when there was a path leading somewhere in the woods from the road we were walking down.
"Hey guys come here I think I found something!" Said Aaron " it's a path let's see where it goes too" |
